OUR MISSION
We are united by the gospel to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the joy of all peoples.
OUR BELIEFS
Union Church is a church under the lordship of Jesus Christ (Co. 1:18). Therefore, we are committed to contending for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3). In unity with the historic Christian church, we believe and confess the Apostles’, Nicene, Athanasian, and Chalcedonian Creeds as accurate representations of Scripture’s teaching. In addition to these historic formulations, we are situated within the evangelical, Reformed, and baptistic traditions.
OUR VALUES
GOSPEL CENTERED
The good news about salvation in Jesus Christ is the central element that shapes our theology, our practice, and our culture.
BIBLE SATURATED
God speaks to his people through scripture. We want everything we do to be soaked in his eternal, perfect word.
SPIRIT EMPOWERED
The Holy Spirit is the source of power for the Christian life. We are eager for him to help us in everything we do.
OUR VISION
In 2018 God began to stir in a small group of people a desire to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by planting a new church in Livingston County, MI.
Livingston County is a place of beauty. Alongside the natural beauty of green space and lakes that we love, lie sought after communities that bear the marks of hard work, success, security, and independence. But despite these external markers of flourishing, brokenness lurks beneath the surface.
Addiction, depression, divorce, domestic abuse and more are all realities in the Livingston area. But these physical manifestations of pain are merely a reflection of spiritual brokenness. In Livingston County, just 11 percent of the population is affiliated with an evangelical church. Without a connection to Jesus Christ Livingston County is lifeless. Without life we seek out substitutes and stimulants to recreate purpose and meaning. When those things inevitably fail, emptiness and despair follow. Though people in Livingston County may seem to have everything materially, many have nothing eternally.
Livingston County needs the gospel of Jesus Christ to truly flourish. In the face of this reality, Union Church aims to see disciples of Jesus Christ mobilized by the gospel. We want to see dead hearts mobilized to life by connection to Jesus and we want to see stagnant believers mobilized by the gospel to do the work of ministry.
As God works to mobilize disciples of Jesus through Union Church, we are asking him to make us a church saturated in the Word, centered on the gospel, and empowered by the Spirit. We desire for people from all walks and stages of life to call Union Church home as they grow in grace and in the knowledge of God. We strive to be a safe and welcoming community for the broken and suffering. At our church, it is ok to not be ok. By God’s grace we eagerly seek healing, sanctification, and transformation in the lives of people. We want to be a people so moved and shaped by who God is and what he has done that we sacrificially practice generosity, hospitality, and care. We eagerly take the good news about Jesus Christ to our neighborhoods and to the nations. We love and serve our city and our region with compassion and excellence. We joyfully multiply disciples, leaders, and churches through evangelism, training, and church planting. We exist not for ourselves, but are united by the gospel to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the joy of all peoples.

MEMBERSHIP
In membership, we identify ourselves with one another, commit to loving and caring for one another, and submit to one another for accountability—all done as brothers and sisters in Christ. This allows us to serve one another, belong among one another, and lead one another with a deep sense of trust and shared mission.
At Union Church, we'll have opportunities each spring and fall to learn more about the heartbeat behind membership, the responsibilities it entails, and more at our Membership Orientation.

BAPTISM
At Union Church, we see baptism as a holy practice given to the church by God. In baptism a follower of Jesus announces their union with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection by being washed (immersed or sprinkled) in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It's a sign of belonging to the new people of God, the church. Scripture calls every disciple of Christ to be baptized (Matthew 28:19).
